South Australia’s “circuit breaker” shutdown will be critical in contact tracing the state’s new COVID-19 cases, but it’s good news for the state so far.

Zero new cases were linked to the Parafield cluster on Thursday, keeping its total at 23.

A further 17 people are suspected to have contracted COVID-19 and are being treated as through they are positive cases.

Premier Steven Marshall says record testing rates will be critical in the state’s efforts to reign in the virus.

“Record testing rates and proud South Australians in line for hours knowing that’s how we get through this… that is simply outstanding,” Marshall said.

Despite zero new cases, SA Health authorities have contacted a number of people who are travelled with an Uber driver who tested positive for the virus.

It’s believed the Uber driver delivered a pizza from Woodville Pizza Bar, which has become the epicentre of the state’s most concerning outbreak since the pandemic began.

Health authorities say a back-of-house worker at Peppers Hotel in the CBD became infected by a returned traveller after coming into contact with the virus on a kitchen surface
