Australian Police has dropped terror charges against Mohamed Kamer Nizamdeen, the 25-year-old Sri Lankan student who was accused of plotting terror attacks.
Nizamdeena was arrested on 31 August by the Australian Police for allegedly planning a terror attack. The arrest took place over a notebook which included several symbolic locations and individuals of Australia, which were suspected to be potential targets.
After an expert stated that the notebook over which he was arrested does not contain his handwriting, he was released on bail last month. Although the police examined his mobile phone, computer and other documents seized by the authorities, the police did not find any extremist ideology materials.
Nizamdeen’s lawyer has stated that his client will apply for legal costs and sue the police.
